Disable Linux proxy

View environment variables that contain ‘proxy’:
# env | grep -i proxy

This should display something as follows (if a proxy server is set)
http_proxy=http://www-proxy.internal.corp.com:80

Unset the variable that you found above (variable is case-sensitive)
# unset http_proxy

View environment variables again and ensure the proxy was successfully removed
# env | grep -i proxy

Hide Linux shell history

Sometimes you need to temporarily disable Linux shell history. This is particularly handy if you are typing in passwords. One method to disable history is: unset HISTFILE
