Hide folder field in 11g Folders

The new 11g Folders component (which I recently wrote about here) always displays the Folder field on a checkin form.

Questions have been popping up on both the Oracle WebCenter Content forum and the Yahoo! WebCenter Content Users Group about how to hide this Folder field in the new 11g Folders component. In Contribution Folders (folders_g), there was a metadata field (xCollectionID) that could be added to rules and be set to hidden. This is no longer the case in the 11g Folders component. In Folders, you can hide it by creating a rule and setting a rule side effect that does the following:

Add that rule to a profile or make the rule global and the Folder field will now be hidden.

Note: isExcluded can be substituted for isHidden or other field display variables.

Hi Jonathan,
I’m looking to add customer metadata to a folder in order to be able to search the folder instead of its content, could you plase tell me how achieve that ?
the idea is that the user can create a customer folders with set of metadata.
Thx

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for this post.I am able to hide folder from checkin page using the above side effect rule you mentioned. However,we need to hide ‘Enterprise Libraries’ from the Browse Content tab.The other folders should be present.Only ‘Enterprise Libraries’ need to be hidden for all users. So,essentially a global rule will do.But it would be great if you can provide us the required condition i.e. key-value pair.

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Ananda
